SPORT LEGACY FUND PROGRAM GUIDELINES

Mission:

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association Sport Legacy Fund has been developed to assist the sport of lacrosse in developing throughout Saskatchewan and to provide opportunities for the pursuit of excellence and life long participation.

Description:

The Sport Legacy Fund is a fund raising program established for the continued and future development of amateur lacrosse in Saskatchewan.

The Sport Legacy Fund provides an opportunity for individuals who have benefited from sport or those who believe in the value of sport to contribute financially to sport programs for current and future generations. Cash donations, monthly/annual contributions, planned gifts (i.e. life insurance policies, charitable annuities, bequests, etc.) or gifts in kind are encouraged. Contributions result in significant tax savings for the donor.

Causes:

1. High Performance Development

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association has identified high performance development as a priority for the future. A donation to this cause will be directed to one of the following programs:

    • Provincial Team funding
    • Athlete Assistance
    • Scholarship funding assistance for athletes receives partial lacrosse scholarships

2.    Grassroots Development

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association has also identified the continued development of lacrosse throughout Saskatchewan as a priority for the future. A donation to this cause will be directed to one of the following programs:

    • Introductory/Participation Initiatives – clinics, equipment, etc.
    • Coaching development
    • Officiating development

We will utilize a program offered by Sask Sport called the Sport Legacy Program. The Sport Legacy program provides:

  • Tax receipts for all donations made.

  • Can accept monthly donations via pre-authorized bank withdrawals

  • Individual donations of $120 (or $10 per month) or more are eligible for a 20% top up through the Sport Legacy Fund Donor Incentive Program. To qualify for the donor incentive program your donation must be held in trust for a minimum of 5 years.

Each individual can determine how their donation is to be allocated as per the causes indentified above.

Donor Recognition:

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association will provide appropriate recognition of donors in addition to the program developed by Sask Sport Inc.

The following will be provided as a minimum:

  • Recognition in SLA Policy Handbook
  • Recognition on SLA website
  • Recognition of LacrosseTalk Newspaper at least once annually
  • Recognition at the SLA General Meetings
  • Thank you letter to contributor on an annual basis

The following programs will also be considered depending on the size of contribution:

  • Providing a plaque or gift to donor
  • Developing a Keeper Plaque to be displayed in SLA office.
