The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association is delighted to introduce an off-season development program tailored to our female athletes within the Team Sask initiative. This program is designed to create a platform where female athletes can come together during the off-season, not only to gear up for the 2024 season but also to foster growth and teamwork among female athletes. Importantly, this camp is open to ALL female athletes aged 11 to 21, irrespective of their participation in the Team Sask program in 2023.
The program is scheduled to commence in November and extend through mid-February. It will feature one training weekend per month, with venues rotating between North and South locations. During these weekends, participants can engage in both Box Development and Women's Field/Sixes development, enabling athletes to prepare for their preferred sectors. Each weekend will span the entirety of Saturday and half of Sunday.
Our coaching staff will consist of coaches from our Team Sask Program and may also include guest coaches and goalie coaches, subject to availability. In addition to the training, athletes have the opportunity to opt for participation in various tournaments (though participation is entirely optional). The tournaments on the roster include:
It should be noted that participation in tournaments will also need to be approved by a Coach to ensure an athlete is ready for that kind of competition.
The training session dates are as follows:
The program costs are as follows, and these fees will contribute to facility bookings and coach travel expenses. Any surplus funds will be credited back to the athletes for future lacrosse programs:
Payment for these fees is due by November 1st, unless a pre-approved payment plan has been arranged with the SLA Office. Please note that additional costs will apply for tournament registration fees and coach travel. Athletes who do not possess a Team Sask uniform will need to purchase one (estimated cost: $50).
It's important to highlight that these training sessions will also serve as the Open ID Camps for our female athletes interested in trying out for teams participating in National Championships in 2024 and the 2025 Canada Games. In 2024, we have plans to send teams to the following National events:
Registration is now open, and anyone registering by Monday, October 16th will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win 2 to 4 tickets to the Team Canada vs. Team US Women's Hockey Rivalry Series games. This presents an excellent opportunity for our female athletes to witness the success of other female athletes in their respective sports.
