Coaching Applications for 2024 Team Sask Program and 2025 Canada Games Now Open!

Oct. 26, 2023

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association is currently accepting Coach applications for both the 2024 Team Sask program and the 2025 Canada Games teams.

Our High-Performance programs greatly rely on our dedicated Coaches, and we invite all Coaches to become a part of the enduring memories and life-changing experiences that come with working alongside our athletes. Consider applying to be a Coach within our program. Each team is composed of a Head Coach and two to three Assistant Coaches. Coaches are expected to participate in Talent ID Camps, attend team practices that primarily take place during the Summer (though there will be variations for Canada Games Coaches), and accompany their respective teams at events. The 2024 Program Try Outs include the following components:

BOX:

  • Regional ID Camps (Coaches attend one camp based on their location; for instance, South Coaches attend the North Regional Camp).
  • Invitational ID Camps/Finals Camp.
  • If the Box A League holds an exhibition weekend in April, this will serve as an evaluation weekend.
  • Coaches for the Female teams are required to engage in the Fall/Winter Female program.

FIELD (MEN'S and WOMEN'S):

  • Two ID Camp weekends and a Finals Weekend.
  • Coaches for Women's Field teams must participate in the Fall/Winter Female program.

CANADA GAMES:

  • Coaches will begin scouting athletes at 2024 events (and they can also coach in these events, enabling individuals to apply for coaching in both the 2024 events and Canada Games).
  • ID Camps for Canada Games will commence in the fall of 2024 and run bi-monthly until March.

Coaches should possess the following certifications one month prior to their respective events:

Nationals (all Sectors) & Jr. Rush events:

  • All Coaches must hold a Competitive Introduction (CPI) Certification, with separate Field and Box CPI courses.

2025 Canada Games:

  • Head Coaches must be Competitive Development Certified.
  • Assistant Coaches must be Competitive Development Trained.

Coaches are expected to either have these certifications at the time of their application or be willing to complete them within the specified deadlines. Please note that the Competitive Development certification process for Canada Games Coaches is an extensive one, involving multiple weekends of travel. It represents the highest level of Coaching certification available for Lacrosse Coaches.

For more details on the specific roles and responsibilities of Coaches in the Team Sask program, please refer to the 2023 Team Sask Coaches Manual. The 2024 Team Sask Coaches Manual will be provided to selected Coaches, with potential updates from the 2023 manual.

To apply for a Coaching position, please use the links provided below. Within two weeks of submitting their applications, Coaches will be informed if they have been chosen to proceed in the selection process. The initial step involves an interview with the SLA Coaching Committee. Following that, Head Coaches will be appointed. If not selected as a Head Coach, applicants will be considered for Assistant Coach roles. The Head Coach will be consulted in the selection of Assistant Coaches, although the Coaching Committee will have the final decision. Every Coach must submit an application to be considered for any team and any position. Please be aware that the application process for the 2025 Canada Games will have a longer duration compared to the 2024 applications.

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE NOVEMBER 12TH, 2023 (BOTH APPLICATION FORM AND COACH RESUME EMAILED TO TEAMSASK@SASKLACROSSE.NET MUST BE SUBMITTED FOR APPLICATIONS TO BE ACCEPTED)
